In 1982 the western guitar market was shocked into submission. Never before had it seen instruments of such quality from a Japanese builder.
Tokai had come to town and had changed the entire perception of the guitar world forever!

Their arrival brought about a knee-jerk reaction from the world’s existing major manufacturers. However by this time, Tokai had firmly established itself as a builder of unquestionable reputation and precision. Unlike many of its competitors, Tokai founded by Tadayouki Adachi in Hamamatsu in 1947, still remains a genuine family concern. Now headed by its current President, Shohei Adachi, Tokai still retains the philosophy of absolute commitment to quality. The majority of its current workforce are the same skilled craftsmen who created the now highly collectable eighties classics. History has proved that Tokai do not produce guitars without total conviction to their art and as a result of the growing demand for high quality Tokai instruments, means that not every model will be available immediately. So, see a Tokai - get an incredible instrument at an incredibly good price straight away... unless you can wait a few months after ordering your special specification.

John Mayer and Magic Eight Ball's Baz Francis choose TokaiJohn Mayer
TOKAI 2017:Talk about fate, we had not sold the Tokai Silver Star SS88 for 30 years and then we received our first order in November 2016 – on the same day John Mayer posted a picture to his Facebook page with his original 80s model...

This is not an official endorsement given by TOKAI, it's just great to see players who can choose any brand like John Mayer and Billy Gibbons choosing and paying for Tokai Guitars, which we think is the best compliment any guitar brand can ask for.

Baz Francis of Magic Eight Ball has also chosen Tokai for his upcoming solo album, and joins the band of very particular players that appreciate the quality of "The Best Musical Products In The World" - TOKAI.

You might have to wait a while for your specific TOKAI, but it is worth it!

EB-3 SG Style bass guitar is a true reproduction of the Gisbon SG bass, one of rock's defining instruments. Authorized by Gibson, Epiphone has brought back a classic bass guitar of the early '60s. The Epiphone EB-3 bass has a mahogany body and a set mahogany neck to give it the sustain that made the original famous.

A Sidewinder humbucker and mini humbucker deliver the tonal power. The neck profile is fast and very comfortable while the chrome hardware, rosewood fingerboard and trapezoid inlays make this bass a joy to play and hear.
