Just so you know: For good tone, transmission speed is not a problem... electrons travel along all cables at over 186,000 miles per second! Cables are bi-directional. If cables were 'directional', then the sound would be distorted! Contact or cable resistance is not a problem. It's low 'capacitance' between the conductors that creates the brightest twangiest tone! OFC is nothing to do with good tone either! It just ensures the copper conductors do not corrode over time and are easy to solder if repair is required!

Do you know that a Stereo Lead is also a Balanced Mono lead? CONFUSED?
Do you know you can use a stereo or balanced mono for a guitar lead - it doesn't add anything, but it's fine
(Unless you have a special connection for your guitar or amp such as (eg) using some active EMG pickups!) CONFUSED?
Do you know you you can blow up an amplifier or start a fire if you use the wrong speaker cable? CONFUSED?
Do you know you you can run a stereo signal into a mono input - but you need a specially wired input plug (either XLR or Jack) - and we stock them

Different Wirings - Balanced or Unbalanced?
We hope the following sections are useful. Please ask a professional if unsure of your particular requirement.
Some tips

Speaker Cable - Twinaxial Unshielded
Why unshielded? If the shielding moves over time, or if just one strand of a conductor wire touches
the shield, you'll likely blow up your amp, so use unshielded or make sure you cut back shielding properly.

Standard Unbalanced Microphone or Instrument or Signal Mono lead (XLR to Jack)
Either wiring methods on the XLR below achieve the same outcome

Unbalanced Mono
XLR to Mono Jack with Jumper
Microphones should ALWAYS use balanced cables with long cable runs (ideally XLR to XLR).
You can easily find 1/4" TRS to XLR adapters, since they are used for mono signals in the same way.
Keep in mind that generally if you plug a balanced cable into a jack that only accepts unbalanced connections,
the signal will still work, but the entire line will be unbalanced since only two conductors are being used.

This is called Balanced Mono lead using a TRS Jack (otherwise known as a Stereo Jack)
XLR pin 1 to 1/4" plug sleeve XLR pin 2 to 1/4" plug tip XLR pin 3 to 1/4" plug ring
XLR to 1.4-inch stereo jack plug

So, if we're talking about audio cables, the 1/4" TS can ONLY carry unbalanced mono signals.
The 1/4" TRS is capable of carrying unbalanced stereo signals.
However, the 1/4" TRS can ALSO be used for balanced mono signals.
This requires a hot AND cold for the signal, IN ADDITION to ground.
REPEAT: generally if you plug a balanced cable into a jack that only accepts unbalanced connections,
the signal will still work, but the entire line will be unbalanced since only two conductors are being used.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(XLR to XLR not shown as we hope it's obvious...)

XLR to two Phono (RCA) - Signal (or hot) XLR pins 2 and 3, Ground (Common) pin 1
 E.G. Stereo Left and Right
XLR to 2x RCA
TRS Jack to two Phono (RCA) E.G. Stereo Left and Right

Passive Speaker setup (separate amplifier)

Powered Speakers Example (Actually simpler, but also showing Mics and Monitors in this example)

Powered (or active) speakers can be daisy-chained as much as you like because they each have their own amplifier built in
- you must use instrument cables throughout for that setup

Some Powered speakers will also power a similar passive speaker - the internal amp will run at half the ohms (twice the power)
- you must use Instrument cable to the powered speaker, then speaker cable out to the passive speaker cab.
