2016 January Our books section is developing further - more choice from stock, also our care products for woodwind and brass is vast now!
2016 January South Downs Folk Festival 2016 has been confirmed 23rd to 26th September - looking forward to that weekend too!
2016 January Back to The Sixties at Riverside is coming up 20th Feb, but has probably sold out already - we're providing the sound again
2016 January Tokai (from both Japan and China) is providing incredible value and quality. We're regularly selling out!
2015 October New brands starting to arrive now, Marshall, Mapex, Peavey, Paiste, Sabian,... where will it all go?
2015 October Normal opening times now: Mondays Noon - 5.30pm, then Tuesday to Saturday 9.30am - 5.30pm (Closed Sundays)
2015 September We're bringing things together at GB Music and incorporating The Guitar and Amp shop products within GB Music Ltd. Martin who has run the Guitar and Amp (MB Music) business over the last 13 years, has decided to move into a new venture. Martin moved into our new premises in May 2014 and we have worked independently since then. It is an honour to have the blessing from Martin to take on the products he has looked after so well ever since opening his original Queensway shop.  As from 28th Sept 2015 please do call us on 01243 864692 or pop in for anything you need.
2015 May Well, we've been here for a year and it's been great fun sorting out what works best where!
2015 February We've been happy to provide PA and sound engineering facilities for the annual charity concert Back To The Sixties. A superb annual sell-out event bringing together some of the best sixties bands and musicians with proceeds going to charity.
2014 November The hanging framework is nearly finished - most thanks to Ian with some help from my son too. Now to put up hangers everywhere for Acoustic Guitars, Mandolins, Banjos, and of course masses of Ukuleles!
2014 October Supplying sound for a Concert Orchestra in the local theatre, and things are developing well at the shop, we're planning a new wooden framework for display of guitars and folk instruments.
2014 September Provided low cost sound services for the Southdowns Folk Festival for two open air stages and within the local theatre.
2014 August Development in store of professional percussion, strings, brass and woodwind instruments, and a full service and repair operation.
2014 July Sponsored all-day Ukulele workshops headed up by professional tutors Dave Soothill and Ben Rouse for two days in the sunshine at the local charity music festival The Rox Festival (now in it's 24th year).
2014 June We are joined by Ian Robinson String Instrument Repairs, the long time repair and luthier co. Ian has set up in a brand new workshop facility open from Wednesday to Saturday within our premises.
2014 May We've managed to access new and better placed premises - we're told we've done this in record time, only 5 weeks from making an offer - and we've opened in 44 Aldwick Road, Bognor Regis PO21 2PN. As leaseholder we are pleased to be joined by another successful local music store The Guitar and Amp Shop in a co-operative but independent basis. This allows both parties to cover in absence given we've decided to open 6 days a week. Amongst this we've provided sound services to a new local folk rock charity festival in Midhurst (a mad month!)
2014 April All stock is in local storage and we continue in a limited manner offering free local delivery
2014 March Informed in February that the lease renewal will involve many times more than our current rent, instead of any continued discussion we've been advised at short notice to vacate at the end of this lease/month. There is an offer to leave our stock to be sold on our behalf less a hefty commission as the landlord will resume operating in the premises in some form, as yet not divulged.
2013 Lost part of the shop space having been converted to storage for the landlord, so any development is going to be difficult again!
2012 Slow progress in the depths of recession, but progress nevertheless, and much work to change customer perception about the premises and ongoing business and customer service. PA equipment side of business starting to develop.
2011 September Asked to return, this time in partnership and by a new company in a larger corner shop under the same landlord, still helping sell old stock but now we have more space to develop, and we're working alongside new classical and educational music service.
2011 June It was fun, but we were unable to develop the original agreed operating area. So unable to fulfil planned development much beyond selling old stock to raise money for the landlord. The premises and landlord mix wasn't working too well so we agreed to vacate! Sessions continue and plan to run for about 12 months
2011 February We're running free workshops paid for by The Big Lottery through Youth Music London, to utilise old music school premises, and funding tutors plus rent in the building. Offering Cello, Cornet, Ukulele, Saxophone sessions with free instruments.
2011 January We start a new venture to support the Saturday charitable local rock sessions in the youth club, other live music community work and general youth music support we've been involved in for the last nine years. The premises being a partially vacated music shop from a recently defunct music retail company.
