Rox endorses Roxstars within its own
descriptive portfolio, but doesn't provide day to day input or any
core funding to the Roxstars Youth Music
Workshops and other activities that have run since March 2005.
Roxstars originated
from “The Pevensey Project” (pre-cursor organisation to Bognor CAN) approaching
individuals
that volunteered for various community activities including those undertaken under 'the Rox banner'.
The Pevensey Project
suggested the need for youth music workshops to be set up with funding from SEEDA.
Funding was
routed via Rox's bank account until a separate Roxstars bank account was set up.
The Rox Festival is a prestigious event that takes
place most years in Bognor Regis.
It is a superb local event
that manages to incorporate a diverse range of music and contributors.
It is a
very worthy cause with dedicated volunteers from many sources.
Roxstars is extremely thankful to be offered short
performance slots at Rox festivals along with other local bands.
The name Roxstars was
originally coined by a participating youngster in response to playing a Rox
festival.
Roxstars has provided tutors, plus instruments, equipment
and time for no
charge for two Rox workshops / taster sessions
in recent years. Rox has since raised grant funding for its own instruments and equipment
for future activities,
however these have not been offered to help resource Roxstars.
Any communications or representations
referring to workshops run by Rox since 2005,
or descriptions similar to those run by Roxstars at BRYCC, Westloats Lane in Bognor Regis
can therefore only be coincidental.
Roxstars has made appeals for additional
help and always welcomes any active support
and performance opportunities.
